Emotional Employee Wellbeing

The Philippi Trust Namibia Emotional Wellbeing Programme offers an affordable service to employers and employees alike.

This programme consists of services that are accessible to employees and managers alike and provide uniquely tailored solutions to assist employees face the stresses associated with modern life.

For as little as N$30 per employee, per month, companies can access a professional counselling service which is available to employees when required!

Depression - Nearly everyone is psychologically affected by depression, whether personally experienced or by a family member, friend or colleague. It interferes with normal functioning and frequently causes problems with work, social and family adjustment.

The impact of Depression:

  • causes tremendous emotional pain

  • disrupts the lives of millions of people

  • adversely affects the lives of families and friends

  • reduces work productivity and absenteeism

Stress Management - Stress is both physical and mental and caused by major life events such as illness, the death of a loved-one, a change in responsibilities or expectations at work and at home, any type of loss or change.

Constantly reacting to these stressful situations, without physical, mental and/or emotional adjustments can be both hurtful and detrimental to your health and well-being.

Loss & Change - Change is inevitable! Many changes are eagerly anticipated such as those of a child who eagerly anticipates adulthood. However...

Developmental / Anticipated Loss – occur as part of the natural process of change and growth we all experience throughout our lives and include experiences such as commencing, changing and leaving school; starting, changing and leaving a job; moving house; getting married, etc. Pain associated with these forms of loss is seen as part of a natural process and positive outcomes are usually expected – life goes on...

Traumatic / Sudden Loss – are associated with losing something we want to keep or have no choice in this regard – no positive outcome can result for example, illness; injury; divorce; redundancy; unemployment; childlessness; bereavement; death...

Grief - events cause grief. Not everyone experiences events as traumatic loss, nor experience the pain of grief to the same degree - much will depend on the individual and the particular circumstance.

However, how people respond to grief and pain has a great deal to do with the way in which they have coped with their earlier experiences of loss, both developmental and traumatic.

Long-term healing can only come through confronting the reality of the loss, and express the grief and pain. Attempts at avoidance simply delays the grieving process.

"The concept of total wellness recognises that our every thought, word, and behaviour affects our greater health and well-being. And we, in turn, are affected not only emotionally but also physically and spiritually." - Greg Anderson

Building Project Phase II

In 2007 we inaugurated the first phase of our Building, which is our current offices situated off Ara Street, Dorado Park.  The total cost of the project then, was estimated at N$ 1 900 000.00 of which Philippi was successfully awarded N$ 980 000.00 for this phase by Global Fund and building commenced in September 2006.  We took up office of the new premises in April 2007.

The second phase of our building has now become essential to the continuation of our organisational programmes.  Carlo Sprengel Architects has provided us with architectural drawings and an estimated N$ 5 million as estimated by a qualified quantity surveyor is required.  These documents are available from us.

The second phase of our building project comprises of counselling rooms; office space; and additional training facilities!

Should you be interested in partnering with us on this exciting venture, please contact us for a detailed funding proposal.  Contact: Ms Marianne E Olivier (Director) at marianne@philippinamibia.com or Tel: +264 61 259 291
