The Philippi Model of Counselling
(Based on Matthew 5:3-10) The Philippi
Model of counselling encourages the counselee the take responsibility
for their own lives and for the process of change and growth into mature
people.
The aim is to offer
counselling which provides hope whilst encouraging the counselee to
recognise their own value as an individual and as a person of worth
within their church and community so that through a process of growth or
understanding they might experience a sense of peace.

Peoples' Needs
HOPE ………………….that is realistic
ENCOURAGEMENT….that is meaningful
VALUE………………....as an individual
WORTH………………..within their home, church
and community.
RELATIONSHIP……….to have a sense of
belonging
Philippi Counselling
Philosophy
A person needs counselling when they
have a perceived significant loss of peace in their life. That sense of
loss can be identified in one or three areas of their life - with God,
their neighbour or themselves. It is when peace is restored in any or
all of these areas that the need for counselling ends. (Rev. Malcolm
Worsley)
The model is based on reflective
listening; is non-intrusive and fully accepting of the counselee. Our
model of counselling is non-abusive, largely non-directive, relationship
and scripturally based. It combines the best Christian practices with
appropriate secular wisdom in seeking to bring understanding and healing
to those in need.
